Fix broken WooCommerce checkout — common questions
What store owners ask when orders stop coming through
WooCommerce checkout is not working — what is the first thing to check?
Three checks first: (1) is the payment gateway in test mode by mistake, (2) is JavaScript console throwing errors at checkout (often a plugin conflict), and (3) are the Stripe / PayPal webhooks reaching your site (check the webhook delivery log in the gateway dashboard). Most “checkout broken” tickets are one of these three. We diagnose all three in a 30-minute call.
My WooCommerce orders are completing but not showing in admin — what is going on?
Usually the order is being created in the database but failing the post-order email/redirect chain. Common causes: (a) WP_Cron not firing on a low-traffic site, (b) a faulty plugin hook (often an inventory or shipping plugin) throwing an exception after order completion, (c) email delivery failure making it look like the order did not process. The order is in your database; we just have to find why your UI is not surfacing it.
How long does it take to fix a broken WooCommerce checkout?
Most broken checkouts are diagnosable in 60-90 minutes and fixable in 2-6 hours. The hard cases are when multiple plugin updates have landed simultaneously and the failure cascade is unclear — those can take a full day to unwind safely. We work on staging first when possible to avoid further disruption to live orders.
Do you fix Stripe, PayPal, Square, and Afterpay gateway errors?
Yes, all four plus eWAY, NAB, Westpac, and authorize.net. Most gateway errors fall into auth-token expiry, webhook URL mismatch, API version drift after a plugin update, or sandbox/live mode confusion. We have done all four scenarios multiple times. If you have a less common Australian gateway (BPay, Tyro, etc.) we are still likely to know it.
Can you migrate from a broken WooCommerce checkout to a different platform?
We usually recommend fixing rather than migrating — checkout problems are almost always solvable in WooCommerce, and a platform migration is a 2-4 week project at $5-15k. But if you have decided to move to Shopify or BigCommerce anyway, we can do the migration. We just want you to know the migration is much larger than the fix.
