Custom WordPress ordering platform, delivery zone logic, and weekly menu system for a fresh Indian curry delivery service — from concept to launch across Melbourne’s west.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

RasoiBox is a Melbourne-based food delivery service specialising in fresh, home-style Indian curries delivered to suburbs across Melbourne’s western corridor — from Geelong and Werribee through to Caroline Springs and Deer Park.

When RasoiBox approached Web Champion, they had a concept but no digital infrastructure. They needed a complete online ordering platform that could handle weekly rotating menus, delivery zone validation, date-based ordering, and a checkout flow designed specifically for food delivery — not a generic WooCommerce template.

We built a custom WordPress website with a bespoke ordering system, integrated payment processing, delivery scheduling, and a backend that lets the RasoiBox team update their weekly menu without touching code.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

RasoiBox delivers freshly prepared Indian curries to homes across Melbourne’s western suburbs. Their model is simple: customers choose an available delivery date from the weekly menu, select their curry combination and dish count, and place their order online. RasoiBox handles preparation and delivery.

The service covers a wide delivery radius including Geelong, Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina, Werribee, Point Cook, Williams Landing, Altona, Deer Park, Caroline Springs, and surrounding areas. Quality and freshness are central to their brand — every curry is made from scratch, not reheated or frozen.

RasoiBox operates in a competitive space alongside established Melbourne tiffin services, but differentiates through modern ordering convenience, broader delivery coverage, and a curated weekly menu approach rather than a fixed daily offering.

THE CHALLENGE

RasoiBox needed more than a standard website. Their business model required custom functionality that off-the-shelf solutions couldn’t deliver:

  • Weekly rotating menu system — the menu changes each week, so the platform needed a backend that allowed the team to publish new curry options on a schedule without developer involvement.
  • Delivery zone validation — orders needed to be restricted to supported suburbs. Customers outside the delivery area needed clear messaging before they could proceed to checkout.
  • Date-based ordering — customers select a specific delivery date, not just “add to cart.” The system needed to prevent orders for dates that were already full or past the cut-off.
  • Food-specific checkout flow — standard eCommerce checkout wasn’t suitable. The ordering process needed to feel fast and purpose-built: pick date, pick curries, confirm details, pay.
  • No existing digital presence — no website, no branding assets optimised for web, and no technical infrastructure to build upon.

The brief was clear: build a platform that makes ordering easy for customers and menu management easy for the business, while being fast, mobile-friendly, and ready for search engine visibility from day one.

OUR SOLUTION

We built a custom WordPress platform with a purpose-built ordering system designed around RasoiBox’s specific workflow.

Custom Ordering Platform

Rather than forcing the business into a generic WooCommerce product-and-cart flow, we built a streamlined ordering interface. Customers see available delivery dates, select their curry combination from the current week’s menu, set the quantity, and check out — all in a clean, mobile-first flow that mirrors how food delivery apps work.

Weekly Menu Management

The backend was built so the RasoiBox team can update the weekly menu themselves. New curries, descriptions, pricing, and available dates can all be managed through a simple admin interface — no developer required for routine menu changes.

Delivery Zone Logic

We implemented suburb-based delivery validation that checks the customer’s location before allowing an order. Supported suburbs are managed in the backend, making it easy to expand delivery coverage as the business grows.

SEO & Local Search Foundation

The site was built with technical SEO fundamentals in place from launch: clean URL structures, proper heading hierarchy, schema markup for local business, fast load times, and mobile-first responsive design. This gave RasoiBox a strong starting position for organic visibility in local food delivery searches across Melbourne’s west.

SERVICES DELIVERED

TECHNOLOGY & PLATFORM

  • Platform: WordPress with custom theme
  • Ordering System: Custom-built menu and ordering flow
  • Payments: Integrated payment gateway
  • Delivery Management: Suburb-based zone validation
  • SEO: Schema markup, clean URLs, mobile-first architecture
  • Hosting: Australian-based hosting for fast local load times

RESULTS & OUTCOMES

RasoiBox launched with a fully operational online ordering platform that matched the speed and convenience of established food delivery services — built on infrastructure the business owns and controls.

  • Operational from launch — customers could discover, order, and pay online from day one, replacing phone and messaging-based orders entirely.
  • Self-managed weekly menus — the RasoiBox team updates their menu each week without any developer involvement, keeping operational costs low.
  • Mobile-optimised ordering — the majority of orders come through mobile devices, and the purpose-built checkout flow handles this smoothly.
  • Expandable delivery coverage — new suburbs can be added to the delivery zone in minutes through the admin panel.
  • SEO-ready from launch — the site was indexed and ranking for local food delivery terms within weeks of going live.

The platform gives RasoiBox a professional digital presence that can scale with the business — no dependency on third-party food delivery marketplaces and no commission fees eating into margins.
