Diesel Care Australia eCommerce store — live site

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Diesel Care is a national automotive parts supplier specialising in diesel fuel system components. Their legacy eCommerce platform could not handle the complexity of their catalogue — 2,000+ SKUs, wholesale pricing tiers, dealer accounts, and real-time inventory. We replaced it with a modern WooCommerce architecture on AWS, built custom REST APIs for inventory and CRM integration, and implemented security and autoscaling infrastructure that keeps the store reliable under any load.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Diesel Care supplies diesel fuel injection pumps, injectors, filters, and related components to workshops, dealers, and retail customers across Australia. They operate both B2B (wholesale accounts, dealer pricing) and B2C (retail customers buying individual parts) through a single platform. Their product catalogue is technically complex — parts must be matched to specific vehicle makes, models, and engine types.

The business had outgrown its previous eCommerce platform. Manual processes were creating bottlenecks, stock data was unreliable, and the infrastructure could not handle traffic spikes during seasonal demand periods or promotional campaigns.

THE CHALLENGE

Diesel Care’s existing platform was failing them across every critical dimension:

  • Inventory accuracy was unreliable — stock levels were not syncing in real-time, leading to overselling, customer frustration, and manual correction work
  • Wholesale pricing was unmanageable — dealer accounts and tiered wholesale pricing could not be handled by the existing platform without workarounds
  • No real-time integrations — inventory, orders, and CRM were disconnected systems requiring manual data re-entry across platforms
  • Infrastructure could not handle load — traffic spikes during promotions or seasonal demand caused slowdowns and outages
  • Security gaps — no web application firewall, limited audit logging, and outdated security practices put customer and business data at risk
  • No bulk ordering capability — trade customers needed to order individual items one at a time, making large orders impractical

The platform needed to be replaced entirely — not patched. Diesel Care needed an architecture that could handle their complexity today and scale with the business for years to come.

OUR SOLUTION

We designed and built a complete eCommerce platform replacement, moving from the legacy system to a modern WooCommerce architecture hosted on AWS cloud infrastructure.

WooCommerce Platform Build

The new store was built on WooCommerce to handle the full catalogue of 2,000+ SKUs. Custom features included vehicle compatibility filters (search by make/model/engine), bulk order upload for trade customers, quote management for large orders, and a dealer account system with wholesale pricing tiers that apply automatically at login.

REST API Development

We built secure REST APIs to connect the store with Diesel Care’s inventory management system, order processing workflow, and CRM. These integrations ensure that stock levels update in real-time, orders flow automatically from the website to the warehouse, and customer data syncs between systems without manual intervention.

AWS Cloud Infrastructure

The store runs on AWS with autoscaling infrastructure that adjusts capacity based on traffic demand. This means the site stays fast and available during traffic spikes — whether from a promotional campaign, seasonal demand, or a social media mention. No more outages during peak periods.

Security Architecture

We implemented a layered security approach: web application firewall (WAF), reCAPTCHA on all forms, SSL/TLS encryption, audit logging for all administrative actions, and automated security monitoring. Customer payment data is handled through PCI-compliant payment gateways with no sensitive data stored on the server.

Ongoing Maintenance

Diesel Care is on an ongoing monthly retainer that covers WooCommerce and plugin updates, security patching, performance monitoring, helpdesk support for the team, and development hours for new features and store improvements.

TECHNOLOGY & PLATFORM

  • Platform: WooCommerce (WordPress)
  • Hosting: AWS — EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront CDN, Autoscaling Groups
  • APIs: Custom REST APIs for inventory, orders, and CRM
  • Security: WAF, reCAPTCHA, SSL/TLS, audit logging
  • Payments: PCI-compliant gateway integration
  • Custom Features: Vehicle compatibility filters, bulk order upload, dealer accounts, tiered wholesale pricing, quote management

RESULTS & OUTCOMES

The platform replacement delivered immediate operational improvements:

  • Faster page loads and improved Core Web Vitals — the AWS-hosted WooCommerce store loads significantly faster than the legacy platform across all devices
  • Real-time inventory and pricing accuracy — REST API integrations ensure stock levels and pricing are always current, eliminating overselling and manual corrections
  • Wholesale tiers, dealer accounts, and bulk ordering fully operational — trade customers can now place large orders efficiently with automatic wholesale pricing
  • Infrastructure holds under traffic spikes — autoscaling AWS infrastructure maintains consistent uptime and speed during peak demand periods
  • Zero manual order tracking — CRM integration handles the full order lifecycle from website purchase to warehouse fulfilment automatically
  • Reduced security risk — WAF, audit logging, and automated monitoring protect customer data and business operations

Diesel Care now operates on a platform that matches the scale and complexity of their business — reliable, automated, and built to grow.
